David was asked to play Joseph Smith during sharing time. Sarah said, "I not afraid of Joseph Smith. I just afraid of Daddy as Clicky. Chucky Cheese and Dora also scare me." 

He talked about the restoration, translation of the Book of Mormon, and the priesthood. He's since received several comments that now that people have thought about it, he does kind of resemble Joseph Smith. It might be coming a reoccurring role for him. 

Surprise! Happy Birthday Mom

For my Mom's 60th birthday, Lisa and I decided to fly in and surprise her.

Emily, David, and Liz helped us coordinate and made sure my parents stayed in town so we could surprise my Dad too. 

The girls stayed with David and his parents. I was able to really enjoy the trip knowing they were having fun.

My best-friend Kaila picked Lisa and I up from the airport on Thursday night, and the next morning we worked out a plan. Kaila had my parents show her the remodeled basement, while Lisa and I took cover in the kitchen with Emily. 

It was perfect.  

Emily filmed the whole thing, and it was so great to see both my parent's surprised faces. 

We spent the weekend, watching conference, getting pedicures, eating out, and going through childhood memory boxes.  

We had family over for a BBQ, and Emily had her famous adult Easter Egg hunt (only the best candy allowed and you better watch out because there is no mercy when competing with the cousins.)

Even though it was a short trip, it was so worth it! 

White House Easter Egg Roll

At work, David happens to be the same height and weight as the official NetSmartzKids.org mascot, Clicky, and occasionally, he is asked to attend events dressed up in the costume during large events.  

This year, they asked him to attend the White House Easter Egg Roll, and he was able to get us tickets. We were so excited, because its nearly impossible to get them. Over 300,000 people entered the lottery to win tickets, and only 30,000 were selected. 

Before we left, we talked with the girls about Daddy being dressed up as Clicky, showed them pictures, and watched some of the Internet Safety videos on NetSmartzKids.org. 

As soon as we saw him, Sarah started to cry. She was terrified. David tried to calm her down by leaning his huge yellow head into her stroller and saying, "Sarah its Daddy." She wasn't buying it.  

Of course, we insisted on taking a family picture. She clung to me and then would try to run away only to be completely mortified when she realized she was surrounded by mascots, the Easter Bunny, Dora, a giant Owl. They were everywhere. 

As soon as David changed out of the suit, and we were far away from the mascot area, Sarah said, "I just scared a little bit of Daddy dressed as Clicky."
