New Year's Babies

Ah, this was hysterical!

I think this is the happiest I've ever seen Sarah.

She LOVED, LOVED it.

Harris Teeter

A trip to the grocery store wouldn't be complete without a balloon and cookie.

Leah discovered the small carts this last trip, and we had to take one more lap around the store to pick up some milk. When we were done, she put it back with the other carts, despite me urging her to push it next to the store wall.

Some More Easter

We love this video and the girl in it even more.

You'll notice she checks the eggs before she takes them. She throws the duds, or the empty ones, back on the ground.

Some Goings On

We sold my car on Saturday and are officially a one car family.

Leah's learned how to take pictures. Nice huh?

She also is learning how to make all sorts of faces: happy, mad, silly, sad, surprised. They are really funny. I'm hoping to take pictures of them soon.

Sarah is rolling over in her crib. I love seeing her smile back at me after rolling over from her stomach to her back.

The girls have also been sick, again. There is lots of coughing this time around.

I've learned that Ibprofen makes Sarah super silly and hyper. She also seems to be handling the sickness better than Leah who isn't nearly as happy.

Here is a video of her at about 10pm. With practically no naps all day and being up way past her bedtime, she is still super smiley.

Bedtime

Some of my favorite pictures of the girls, like this one, are taken before bed on the chair in Leah's room.

...and a video for the grandparents

In case you were wondering, David covered the flashing orange light on the last picture. That's why Sarah isn't pulling a funny face. Leah didn't care much for the orange light either.

Mash Up

A little Twinkle Twinkle with some ABCs anyone?

Please pardon my squealing. Before I grabbed my camera, Sarah squealed, everytime Leah sang something. Perhaps we'll have some sing offs in our future.

She likes it!!

She's been eyeing our food for awhile now, so we decided to give her a taste.

I'm not sure if she had rice cereal in mind.

Spic N' Span

So I am slowly getting around to those bathrooms and floor.

The kitchen floor is mopped, and Leah and I worked on the master bathroom this afternoon.

I'm glad one of us was excited about this job. She started with the door, and then worked her way to the wall. I practically had to drag her out to eat lunch.

Now if I could only get her that passionate about getting dressed and keeping clothes on while we are at home.

It's beginning to look like Christmas...

This week has really felt like Christmas at our house.

We wrapped a few more presents for under the tree, and tried to get a picture of the girls dressed up in red and white.

We went to Christmas parties. Leah liked watching Santa and talking about him when he wasn't close by. She didn't want to sit on his lap, but loved enjoying the sucker he gave her.

Tonight we made sugar cookies. Leah loves the dough as much as I do. She kept sneaking it when we weren't looking.

David and I have also watched a few cheesy Christmas movies.

Our Morning

She got dressed and then mopped the kitchen floor.

She Coos

It's so adorable.

Second Child

Before I had Sarah, I always felt kind of bad for the second child. I knew I wouldn't be able to give her the complete undivided attention that I gave Leah. Inevitably, there would be fewer pictures and less one-on-one time.
Now, I think the second child is quite lucky, at least in our house, to be on the receiving end of so much love. She is awakened by Leah giggling as she calls her name. Not only does she have parents looking out for her, she has an older sister who is always concerned about where she is and what she is doing. She is always surrounded by lots of toys, and she is often covered in stickers. She will have someone to laugh with, share secrets with, fight with, and make up with. It's great to have siblings.

Getting Ready

My parents have been having the time of their lives touring all over Europe for the past 8 weeks. They arrive on Tuesday for a week layover...We are so excited to see them.

Since they don't get to visit us very often, we always try to finish a few projects before they arrive. Yesterday, we worked on the playroom downstairs.

The Purchase

The Prep

The Reveal

It's amazing how changing the way something is presented can make everything seem new. She's been playing with these toys for a long time, and you would never know it from her reaction.

Catch Up

May was a blur, and June is going by just as fast. Here are some of the things that have been keeping us busy.

A birthday bash

An obession with shoes

A perfect pizza

Another attempt at gardening

We Survived

all the snow, and Leah learned a few new tricks...

She goes down the stairs.

She helps me in the kitchen.

Snow Day

It snowed here on Saturday, and in Virginia that means no one goes anywhere. So we stayed inside, and Leah and her Dad played with this most of the day.

Busy Girl

It seems like overnight Leah has started to do toddler things...

She climbs the stairs (supervised, of course)

She also likes to...

Eat tons of Mac & Cheese

Look out her bedroom window

Sit on the bottom step and stand up and sit down again

Pull all of her toys out of her toy bin

Cruise around the furniture

Stand up, while she pulls on anything she can to get steady, my hair included

Do the splits when she is trying to sit back down after standing

Talk to all the kids during church

Stay up and play in the afternoon instead of taking a second nap

Open and close cupboards and laugh as she takes stuff out

Let it Snow

We had our first snowstorm on Saturday.

We stayed inside for most of it enjoying the view.
It rarely snows in Virginia before January so we were very excited. Most of it has melted now.

On the Go

Leah's cousin shared his baby walker with her this weekend.

First, she tried it out in the house numerous times.

Then we let her take it outside.

Now that we are home, she is a little disappointed that she can't get this to move.
