Halloween
It was rainy and cold so my parent's ward had their trunk-or-treat in the gym. Leah was a little overwhelmed, yet still said trick-or-treat and thank you at every stop. When given the option to pick her candy, she always chose either a sucker or smarties.

Practicing for Halloween
Leah was a bunny and Sarah was a pea in a pod this year. I have some cute pictures on our camera, but I don't have a cord at my parent's house to transfer them to the computer.

Fall Colors
Fall is so gorgeous here, and I love that we get to look at the beautiful foliage from our deck everyday. We get to enjoy watching the leaves change color without any of the responsibility of having to rake them up when they fall.
We usually play on the deck in the morning. Sometimes Sarah joins us if we go out in the afternoon. In the mornings she is almost always sleeping.
You should have seen Leah's face when she saw her blue tongue after eating a dum dum. She was so concerned, and then she had to keep checking it throughout the rest of the day.
The deck is the prefect place for Leah to be outside without being too far from home so I can frequently check on Sarah. Leah likes to pull all the "balls" off my tomato plants. She also enjoys carrying around buckets, looking for animals in the trees, throwing rocks from one of the potted plants, and having me pull her on her bike. I think she's probably old enough to use her feet to move around her bike, but I don't blame her for not doing it. I almost always give in when she gives me one of her very persuasive pleases.
One of the downsides of having a baby that sleeps so much, is that we don't get to go out as often. Sarah doesn't like the stroller or car seat. I can do a few errands if I put her in my sleepy wrap, but it's hard to go for long walks.
So today my friend Jenn offered to take Leah and her son on a walk together. It's the perfect day for it. Leah was ecstatic. She loves walks, and she loves Jenn's boys even more. While I miss out on the fresh air, I get to blog and catch up on my e-mails.

Sleep
I went to bed last night at 10:30ish after I laid Sarah down, and I wasn't awakened until 7 am. Yippee!! If it happens again tonight, that will be three times in a row and hopefully she'll stick to it!

Two Months Old
Wow, the time seems to be going by even faster the second time around. I snapped a picture just before she wowed the doctor with her incredible skills. At two months she is cooing a lot and smiles at just about anything. The doctor said she has the neck control of a four-month old.
Everyone seems to think she looks exactly like her Dad. We think she's a good mix of the both of us. What do you think? Here are pictures of Me, David, and Leah. Leah's hair was so crazy as a baby.

Visitors
Uncle John and Aunt Nancy or "Aunt Entsy" left yesterday after spending the weekend with us. We love visitors and enjoyed their company. We learned how to make green smoothies and ate bible bread. Leah ate them both!

Our front yard is looking really nice with the new grass and all the colorful impatiens. It makes me smile everytime I come home.

I Do It!
It started last night when she put on her jammies all by herself.
It continued this morning, although not quite as successfully, when she insisted on putting her pants and shirt on herself.
The result.
She ran around the house in her diaper until lunch.
We have lots of pictures like these of the girls before bed. It's one of the few times they are both awake at the same time. Sarah really likes her sleep.

Books
This girl loves to read. Lately, she has picked up my books and read them outloud with her own words of course.
David stopped by a used book store with her on Saturday during their Daddy daughter time. He let her look through the books, and she settled on two Thomas the Train books.
She wouldn't let anyone touch them for the rest of the day.

Second Child
Before I had Sarah, I always felt kind of bad for the second child. I knew I wouldn't be able to give her the complete undivided attention that I gave Leah. Inevitably, there would be fewer pictures and less one-on-one time.
Now, I think the second child is quite lucky, at least in our house, to be on the receiving end of so much love. She is awakened by Leah giggling as she calls her name. Not only does she have parents looking out for her, she has an older sister who is always concerned about where she is and what she is doing. She is always surrounded by lots of toys, and she is often covered in stickers. She will have someone to laugh with, share secrets with, fight with, and make up with. It's great to have siblings.

Smiles
Sarah smiled for the first time a couple of days ago. It was so sweet. As you can see, I failed at trying to get a picture of it.
Some things about Sarah:
It looks like her eyes are going to be blue, and her hair might be red or at least reddish. Her eyebrows look especially red.
She is such a laid back girl.
My pregnancy with her was easy,despite having the stomach flu at least four times.
The delivery was a breeze even though she weighed over 9 pounds.
She regularly lifts up her upper left lip.
She looks great in purple.
She enjoys cuddling, and prefers laying on your shoulder when being held.
She loves to sleep. I read in Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child that babies her age shouldn't be up for more than 2 hours at a time, or they become overtired. Since reading this, I've been trying to pay attention to her sleep cues and the clock. I've noticed that she almost always starts to get tired at the hour mark. Today she slept from 9am to 11:30am and then from 12:30pm to 1:30. It's 3 o'clock now, and she just went back to sleep.

Cox Farms
October begins for us with a trip to Cox Farms. It has everything you need to kick off the fall season--pumpkins, corn stalks, apple cider, slides, and farm animals. The air was perfectly crisp without being too cold.
Leah was old enough to really enjoy it this year. She was so excited she barely said a word for at least the first 30 minutes, while she soaked everything in.
As for Sarah, she slept the entire time.
